BattRe Electric launches internet-connected scooter at Rs 64990

Technology-driven startup BattRE Electric Mobility on Friday announced the launch of its new internet-connected scooter, gps:ie, at Rs 64,990 (ex-showroom). The new scooter from the company is a SIM card based smart vehicle which can be accessed through a smart-phone app. The scooter will be available for sale at more than 50 dealer locations across Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh as well on online marketplace Amazon, the company mentioned in a release.

The scooter comes equipped with other features like remote immobilisation, geofencing, secure parking, etc. Moreover, there is an option to set a speed lock that alerts in situations when the speed limit is crossed.

“The rollout of our new offering, an affordable internet-connected electric scooter will change the way people commute. This is the next level of tech revolution to be seen in the EV sector. Our objective is to build an entire ecosystem thereby ensuring that the consumer enjoys a complete e-mobility experience, ” said Nishchal Chaudhary, Founder of BattRE Electric Mobility Ltd. “This telematics platform will be a game-changer for ride-sharing companies as well. The riders and owners will get the live location of the vehicle through GPS as well as driving behaviour and trip reports,” Chaudhary further added.

BattRE has also partnered with San Jose (California)-based tech company Aeris Communications, which has its country office in Delhi NCR, for the e-scooter.

Despite the current Coronavirus pandemic, the EV industry in India is seeing strong demand and registered 20 per cent growth in the previous fiscal, said the company in a release.
