The Blue Energy 5528 4×2 is India’s first LNG-powered Heavy Duty Truck. In an industry dominated by diesel-powered trucks carrying out transportation duties, Blue Motors aims to provide a greener and cleaner alternative. The 5528 Truck is powered by a 6.7 FPT Industrial multipoint stoichiometric combustion engine. Rated at 280 hp and 1000NM, the engine is compatible with CNG, LNG, and Biomethane.  Keeping in sight the key aspect of Range per full tank, the 5528 features a 990 liter LNG tank translating to a range of 1400km per tank. The cabin is 2.5m wide with a co-driver resting area behind the driver and is fully air-conditioned. It is 4-point suspended for greater ride comfort, aiding in reducing driver fatigue induced by road conditions and NVH.

Green and Clean

India is fast moving away from oil and gas-powered vehicles to fulfill its carbon neutrality goals. While Electric vehicles are coming in fast, while Hydrogen powered vehicles are on the horizon, both the alternatives would need a few years to develop and become a mainstream options. LNG is a viable alternative in the sense that it can immediately be adopted as a greener fuel, especially for commercial vehicles serving the long-distance road transport domain. Powered by LNG, the 5528 reduces CO2 emissions by 30%. The exhaust system features a light and simple after-treatment system that doesn’t require AdBlue and doesn’t generate particulate matter.

Mr. Anirudh Bhuwalka, CEO, Blue Energy Motors said, “India’s first LNG truck, which we launched today, is our first step towards pioneering the green trucking revolution. We at Blue Energy Motors aim to decarbonize the environment by providing an immediate solution and breaking the barriers of economic returns”. He added, “It is designed not only as an environmentally viable solution but will also be delivering to the business needs of customers. With near zero tailpipe emissions, our truck will help reduce CO2 up to 30%, compared to conventional solutions available in the market.”
