Maharaja of Patiala is the first Indian to own a car in 1892

Yes, it is technically true. Maharaja imported French De Dion Bouton; steam-powered 2-cylinder 3-wheel car. Steam-powered vehicles were not very practical. Those vehicles faded away as internal combustion engines took over the automobile industry. Jamsetji Tata is known to be the first Indian to own the early version of the modern automobile in the year 1898 followed by Rustam Cama and Kavasji Wadia.
