A significant update for the MG Astor/ZS crossover is set to be revealed tomorrow. This marks the most substantial revision for the SUV since its global launch in 2018, and it’s anticipated to arrive in India by 2025. The only teaser released by MG Spain gives us a glimpse of the redesigned front, new wheels, and updated tail lamps, all of which contribute to a slightly altered silhouette compared to the current model.
While there are no official details about the interior, it’s expected that the updated Astor/ZS will borrow heavily from the larger MG HS SUV. The current top-spec model already boasts an impressive array of features, including climate control, Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), dual digital screens, connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver’s seat, and a comprehensive LED lighting package.
The upcoming Astor/ZS will introduce a hybrid powertrain, although specific details about this new engine setup remain undisclosed. For the Indian market, it’s likely that the vehicle will continue offering the existing 1.3-liter turbo petrol and 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engines, both available with automatic and manual transmission options.
In India, the Astor competes with other popular SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and more recently, the Tata Curvv. This upcoming update is expected to enhance its competitiveness in this crowded segment, keeping it as a strong contender among its rivals.
