MG Hector is bigger in size and has a win over Harrier with amazing features. Coming to safety, Tata is well known for safety and even MG Hector has good safety. Both the cars have a panoramic sunroof, touch display infotainment system, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps and cruise control. Additionally, Hector has voice command operated vehicle functions, 360 degrees camera with parking assist.

Colours

MG offers Hector in 7 colours- MG Glaze Red, Aurora Silver, Burgundy red, Candy White, Starry Black, Candy White with Starry Black and Glaze Red with Starry Black. Tata Harrier is available in 5 different colours – Telesto Grey, Orcus White, Atlas Black, Sparkle Cocoa, and Calypso Red.

Performance

Talking about performance, Harrier has upgraded to a 2-litre diesel engine which is the same in Hector. The powerful engines (170 PS at a peak torque of 3,750 rpm) make driving easy. There is an auto and manual variant in both cars. The diesel engine of Hector has a mileage of 17.4 kmpl and Tata’s Harrier gives a mileage of 15-16 kmpl.

Variants and Price

There are multiple variants available in both the SUVs. Harrier has only Diesel engines (automatic and manual) at a price tag ranging from 13.84 lakh to 20.3. MG Hector has Diesel and Petrol engines with prices starting at 12.74 lakh and ranging up to 18 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi prices).

Final verdict

MG Hector stands a clear winner. Hector is big in size, offers more features at a reasonably lower cost than Harrier. The Harrier has also impressed with updates but couldn’t catch up with Hector. Both cars provide a great driving experience.
