TVS Motors have come with a smaller capacity sibling of their Apache RTR 200 4V model and that turns out to be the Apache RTR 160 4V. The newly launched look-alike comes with new features as well as mechanical changes. The motorcycle carries the same personality as its older sibling the RTR 200 4V. The bike features a similar tank, headlight, taillight, instrumentation and the turn indicators too. What has changed is the frame and reworked engine, brakes and suspension. The bike now also gets an all-digital instrument display.
The bike is available in three variants – carb with front disc priced for Rs. 81490, carb with front and rear disc priced for Rs. 84,490, and fuel injected variant with front and rear disc for Rs.89,990, all prices ex-showroom, Delhi. The all-new RTR 160 4V is now based on a completely new 4-valve platform, which has helped in significantly updating the engine. The new Apache RTR 160 4v takes inspiration from 35 years of TVS Racing experience as well and will be an add-on in this very competitive 160 cc motorcycle segment.
Overall the RTR 160 4V gets a sharp design and looks like a completely new player, with edgy tank shrouds, a new instrument panel, new LED lights, and updated Showa suspensions. The motorbikes now use a mono-shock at the rear and ditches the twin shocks system. The shotgun style exhaust system is also taken from the RTR 200 4V. TVS is offering the Apache RTR 160 4V in three new classy shades- RR Red, Racing Blue and Racing Black.
Talking about the numbers the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V gets a 159 cc SI, 4 stroke, oil cooled powerful which churns out 16 bhp and 14.8 Nm of torque for the EFI variant and 16.2 bhp for the carb variant. The EFi reaches the 0-60kmph mark in just 4.8 seconds while the carb variant achieves the same in just 4.73 seconds. Top speed ranges from 113 kmph to 114 kmph for the carb and EFi variant respectively.
In terms of dimensions, the Apache RTR 160 4V has a wheelbase of 1357mm while it measures 1050mm in height, 2050mm in length and 790mm in width and carries a ground clearance of 180 mm. The motorcycle has a kerb weight of 143 kg for the drum and 145 kg for the disc variant. Fuel capacity is 12 litres. The bike now features a conventional handlebar for a more comfortable riding position and also features a single piece seat replacing the split seat as seen on its elder sibling. The Apache RTR 160 4V will go up against the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar Ns 160, Suzuki Gixxer 160, Hinda CB Hornet 160 and the all-new Honda XBlade 160.
