Isuzu, although not frequently in the headlines, has made a significant impact with a substantial update for its MU-X SUV. This update marks a mid-life facelift for the SUV, which was initially launched in 2020.
Design Highlights
The exterior design of the new MU-X is distinguished by a fresh face, new wheels, and an updated front bumper. Additionally, Isuzu has introduced a new top-spec RS variant characterized by dark elements, including a dark paint scheme and wheels, enhancing its overall aesthetic appeal.
Interior and Engine
While the interior layout remains unchanged, the MU-X now features a larger display for the infotainment system. Isuzu has significantly expanded the vehicle’s features, now including a 360-degree camera, connected car technology, and level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The SUV is available in six single-tone shades and three dual-tone shades, offering a variety of choices for buyers.
For the Thai market, the MU-X is offered with two diesel engine options: a 1.9-liter diesel engine producing 110bhp and 365Nm of torque, and a 3.0-liter diesel engine producing 140bhp and 450Nm of torque. The transmission options include a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The top-spec variant also features a 4WD system with a shift-on-the-fly mechanism.
India Launch
The MU-X currently available in India has been in the market for over six years and is starting to show its age. Although it is more affordable than its three-row competitors, it lacks many of the features found in models like the MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner, and the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq. Introducing this updated MU-X to the Indian market would provide it with a competitive edge in terms of features and could boost Isuzu’s reputation among SUV buyers.
