Toyota Taisor turbo-petrol manual real-world mileage tested

Toyota’s latest model, the Taisor, is based on Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx. Recently, we had the opportunity to test the Taisor, evaluating its real-world mileage and overall performance. Here’s how it fared.

Powertrain Options

The Toyota Taisor shares its engine options with the Fronx. It features a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, available with either a five-speed manual transmission or an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Additionally, there’s a CNG variant for those seeking an alternative fuel option. The more powerful version of the Taisor is equipped with a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 99bhp and 148Nm of torque. This engine can be paired with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission or a five-speed manual gearbox, which is the version we tested.

City Mileage

Mirroring the Fronx’s reputation for excellent drivability, the Taisor offers similar performance. During our city mileage test, the Taisor consumed 5.32 liters of fuel over a distance of 78.3km, resulting in a real-world mileage of 14.72kmpl. The instrument cluster displayed a mileage of 15.3kmpl, indicating a close alignment between the real-world and displayed figures.

Highway Mileage

On the highway, the Multi-Information Display (MID) showed a mileage of 22-23kmpl during the run, settling at 21.2kmpl by the end of the test. For the highway journey of 90.6km, the Taisor used 4.85 liters of petrol, translating to a real-world fuel efficiency of 18.68kmpl.

Combined Mileage

Combining both city and highway performance, the Taisor turbo-petrol version achieves an overall mileage of 15.71kmpl. Given its 37-liter fuel tank, this translates to a driving range of approximately 581km on a full tank, which is impressive for a vehicle with such robust performance.

In conclusion, the Toyota Taisor proves to be a well-rounded car, offering good mileage and strong performance, making it a reliable option for both city driving and highway trips.
