Volkswagen Polo, Vento get connected car tech
German marquee Volkswagen has now started to offer the My Volkswagen Connect feature on its Polo and Vento vehicles sold in India. My Volkswagen Connect offers connected features to Polo and Vento through My VW Connect App.
Volkswagen has announced that it would be offering this feature on Polo GT TSI and Vento Highline Plus variants as a standard fitment. The automaker has also said that this service will be provided for free for a period of three years. The device is also offered with a warranty of 3-years along with free 3 years subscription.
My Volkswagen Connect app is compatible with Android and iOS devices, it can communicate with the car through a dongle which is essentially plugged into the car’s OBD port. The SIM-based dongle when connected to the OBD port offers a host of information to the user over-the-air through the ‘My Volkswagen Connect’ app.
The dongle is configured to return a host of information such as driving behavior (sudden acceleration/sudden braking), idle time, engine rpm, coolant temperature, etc. The app comes with a host of safety features such as real-time location, Towing alert, geo-fencing, route deviation alert, SOS calling function, etc.
The dongle is capable of receiving OTA updates and the customers can reach out to customer care or Road Side Assistance during an emergency.
