Is Model 3 an upgraded or downgraded version of new Tesla?

Everyone has heard the name, Tesla. Yes, an electric automobiles manufacturing company Tesla co-founded by Elon Musk. Last year Tesla has launched its new all-electric car ‘Model 3’ in 2017 after the success of Model S, Model X, and Roadster. Let’s find out about Model 3.

This new version of Tesla car started its production in June 2017 and deliveries were also made in 2017. In 2018 Tesla had planned to start its production of AWD cars, production of standard batteries, and to begin international deliveries of left-hand drive cars, while in 2019 it had announced the production of right-hand drive for Model 3.

Tesla’s model 3 is an all-electric four-door sedan which is quite downgraded than its previous model S in size as well as in specifications. The only thing model 3 is updated with is its software.
Due to recent production crisis Tesla has yet not achieved its production target of model 3 which was earlier announced by its CEO Elon Musk. In present date, Tesla is delivering model S in 30-60 days while model 3 requires waiting time of 12-18 months.

While deliveries have begun, customers and media have been firing rounds at Tesla for the quality of production of the received Model 3. Panel gaps, drivetrain issues are some of the woes reported.

Comparing the two models, Model 3 has a range of 220-310 miles while Model S can run up to 259-335 miles on a single charge. The  Model 3 hits 60 mph in 5.1-5.6 sec, which is much slower than Model S time of whopping 2.3-4.2 sec which makes it one of the quickest accelerating production cars in the world. Tesla also gives you unlimited recharging for free at the Supercharger charging stations with the purchase of model S, But unfortunately, you have to pay per use of Supercharger with the Model 3.

With smaller size of Model 3, it can fit only 5 adults while Model S has a capacity of 5 adults + 2 kids. Also, the boot space of Model 3 is only half of that of Model S. Owners of Model S will get more than 1500 configurations compared to less than 100 configurations for Model 3.

Other than that Model 3 owners will be missing an extra driver display, smart air suspensions, panoramic glass roof, HEPA filtration system, auto presenting door handles, in their Tesla. But here is the bright side of Model 3, as it will cost only $35,000(before incentives) which is $38,000 less than Model S.

Lets hope Elon Musk comes up with a brilliant solution for the Model 3, which one can expect after going through his witty Twitter handle.
