Stronger than time since 1979
For over 40 years, the G-Class has stood the test of time for extreme durability in any terrain of the world. Over the course of these four decades, the G-Class has established itself from a pure commercial vehicle to a lifestyle object. It has retained the distinctive character and typical appearance to this day. All‑wheel drive, differential locks with 100 percent locking effect and the robust ladder frame have been part of the G-Class since the beginning. Iconic design elements such as the round headlamps, the exposed spare wheel on the side-hinged rear door, and the clear, angular silhouette ensure that the off-road vehicle icon is still recognizable today, as a direct heir of the first G model.

The most powerful diesel engine in a Mercedes-Benz ever
The G 400d’s OM656 is the most powerful diesel engine in the history of Mercedes-Benz, as it impresses with highly responsive power delivery and low consumption. The most powerful in-line six-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 243 kW (330 hp) and maximum torque of 700 Nm at 1200 to 3200 rpm delivers propulsion befitting its legendary status, even under tough off-road conditions. The engine features NANOSLIDE® cylinder barrels used by Mercedes-Benz in Formula 1- with ideal lubrication, reduced friction, and highly wear-resistant, thanks to hard contact surfaces with extremely fine pores for oil absorption. The engine is a world premiere in the passenger car for the combustion process featuring stepped combustion bowls.

Outstanding off-roading capabilities:
The G-Class remains one of the most outstanding off-roaders, capable of conquering extreme terrains. A stable ladder frame made of steel up to 3.4 mm thickness, forms the basic framework. Due to its low design position,

The G400d has impressive ground clearance, water fording depth that offers complete control even in the most demanding off-roading conditions. The G 400d is made for hardcore off-roading, conquering difficult mountainous terrains with equal ease as making the ultimate lifestyle statement.
